We suggested recently after former Mountaineer Bruce Irvin completed his 12th pre-Draft visit with an NFL team, the competition among those teams may cause someone to jump, and select him in the 1st Round of the Draft. Our research told us that if he did go in the 1st Round, it would be towards the end of it with a team like the 49ers snatching him with the 30th pick.
The Seattle Seahawks must have had the same thought. They selected Irvin with the 15th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He becomes the first player selected by Seattle since Owen Schmitt.
WVU’s SID John Antonik reports that Irvin becomes only the 9th Mountaineer selected in the 1st Round in the history of the NFL Draft. He is also the first Mountaineer taken in the 1st Round since Adam Jones.
John Gruden believes that the Seahawks will take advantage of his skill set and use him as a pass-rushing specialist.
We will have much more on this pick, and how Irvin fits in with the Seahawks in the coming days.
