Bengals Place Robert Sands on IR

Geoff Hobson, reporter for the Cincinnati Bengals, revealed today that the team has placed Robert Sands on IR ending his season. Sands had to undergo surgery for a chest injury suffered last week on special teams according to the report.

After having a notable offseason in the eyes of head coach Marvin Lewis, Sands had not separated himself from the pack of other players at safety and fell further down the depth chart in training camp. He was on the roster bubble behind Taylor Mays and Jeromy Miles.

What the move does for Sands is it will make sure he stays on the Bengals roster. If the team cut him, he could have signed elsewhere.

Sands had three tackles and a blocked punt in the two Bengals’ Preseason games.

When we have an update on Sands injury, we will be sure to pass that along.
