In this week’s Hardwood Report, we recap Joe Alexander’s return to the court and he hints at his next stop and check in on John Flowers advancing in the playoffs. We begin with Alex Ruoff in Germany.
Alex Ruoff - Ruoff’s decision to sign with BG Goettingen turned out to be the right one. Both for him and his team. Throughout the season, the Mountaineer sharpshooter helped guide BG Goettingen (Germany) to an undefeated home record. On Sunday, Goettingen upended Crailsheim 83-69 to win the Pro-A Championship. Ruoff had nine points, eight assist and six rebounds in the deciding game.
On the season, he led the team in scoring at 17 points per game.
Joe Alexander - Alexander’s long return from injuries ended this past weekend when the Santa Cruz Warriors lost to the Fort Wayne Mad Antz in the D-League Finals. He played in 17 games averaging 13.7 points and 7 rebounds per game.
“Overall, it was fun,” Alexander told Adam Johnson of SeaDubs Central. The next step for Alexander now that the season is over is “just to continue to rehab and get back to 100%.”
He was then asked about the playing in Taiwan this summer. “That’s like brand new on the table for me, so I’m not really sure. I haven’t dived too much into the possibility.”
He said he would be around the organization for at least the next eight weeks before deciding on the next move, but didn’t rule out the playing in the NBA Summer League. You can listen to the entire interview here.
Da’Sean Butler – Okapi Aalstar (Belgium) saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday against Hainaut. Butler scored 16 points in the game.
John Flowers – JL Bourg (France) kept rolling this past week behind some strong play from John Flowers. On Friday, Bourg blew out Nantes to the tune of 98-62. Flowers had a team-high 17 points in the game.
Marcus Goree – Brasília (Brazil) and Goree found themselves swept out of the playoffs last week by San José. Goree had 16 points and 6 rebounds in the deciding game.
D’or Fischer – Brose Baskets (Germany) defeated Telekom 88-68 last Thursday. Fischer had 7 points, 8 rebounds and swatted 4 shots in the game.
