The two-game CFL Preseason came to a close on Friday night with three games that saw five different Mountaineers in action.
Jock Sanders and the Calgary Stampeders fell to the B.C. Lions 37-13. He carried the ball five times for 28 yards and had a fumble on a kickoff return. He averaged 27.8 yards on four kickoff returns in the game to go along with 11 yards on a pair of punt returns.
Pat White was the third QB in the game for the Edmonton Eskimos against Mortty Ivy and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He connected on both pass attempts for 9 yards. He carried the ball for another 9. White was also in on special teams coverage in the game.
Ivy did not break into the stat sheet. Robert Sands was listed as a starting corner for the Esks, but did not record any stats. Capers backed up at tackle on the offensive line. The Eskimos upset the defending champs 19-14.
On Thursday, the Toronto Argonauts blew out the visiting Hamilton Tiger-cats 41-23. Slaton’s contribution was on a 23-yard catch-and-run.
After spending the preseason with the Argonauts, Kent Richardson decided to return to the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena League, where he won the 2012 Defensive Back of the Year Award.
Final roster cuts will be announced on Saturday, and the regular season will kickoff on Thursday with Slaton and the Argonauts at Winnipeg.
