WVUPros Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin are a dynamic duo on the football field. They work well together off the field, as well. Both took time during the holiday season to offer assistance to their new St Louis community.
Bailey and Austin, along with a few other St Louis Rams, gave of their own resources to purchase coats and other clothing, food, and hygiene items for the Urban League.
The St. Louis community, especially around Ferguson, is full of civil unrest and Bailey and Austin recognize the need to give hope.
“It’s about the little things I can do to give back and give people hope to push through life,” Bailey explained on the Rams website. “Giving out the turkeys, I just thought about how without us being able to give these people turkeys and other food, I don’t think many of them would have had a Thanksgiving or have anything to eat. That was big. And with kids, they always run up to us and say we are their heroes, so that always puts a smile on my face.”
Bailey has also participated in several other community events, including a turkey drive over the last couple Thanksgivings.
“I love the holiday season. It always puts me in good spirits. To be able to put a smile on someone else’s face that may not have much, I don’t even have to receive gifts myself. Just doing things like that is a blessing in itself,” said Bailey.
