We continue our 2017-18 NFL previews by examining the Cincinnati Bengals’ DE Will Clarke’s past, present, and future.
The Past: The former third-round pick is going into the final year of his rookie contract. The Bengals had high hopes for Clarke, but he has yet to live up to the billing. He had the opportunity to step in last season, but did not deliver the spark the team hoped to see despite a career-high 4.5 sacks.
The Present: The team added competition for Clarke in the draft, but DE is still big weakness on the team. Margus Hunt is gone, but new, younger players will push Clarke who provides depth at the position.
The Future: Clarke is no lock to make the final roster, but those odds can be helped with a productive and steady preseason.
