Here are how your WVUPros fared in Saturday night NFL Preseason action, as well as some thoughts on Tavon Austin and the New England Patriots situation with Julian Edelman out for the season.

Tavon Austin is back to practicing for the Rams, but did not play on Saturday as expected. With Julian Edelman of the Patriots now out for the season with a torn ACL, I’ve heard some rumors floated of Austin to New England.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing official or substantial behind this rumor. However, the Pats in my view are unlikely to stand, well, pat with one of their main offensive pieces on the shelf for the season and not make a move.

If so, could Austin be a possible target? Perhaps. In the offseason, the Rams added several receivers to the mix, and second-year QB Jared Goff has spent most of the offseason and preseason developing a rapport with them with Austin still recovering from off-season wrist surgery. Goff showed some promise in the first two preseason games with the receivers he had without Austin.

Austin is in year two of a big four-year, $42 million contract extension with the Rams.

That being said, “Tom Brady to Tavon Austin” has a nice ring to it.

Here are your stats from Saturday night NFL Preseason action:

Geno Smith (NYG): 5/10 passing for 51 yards
J.T. Thomas (NYG): 1 tackle
Bruce Irvin (OAK): 2 tackles
Karl Joseph (OAK): 1 tackle
Daikiel Shorts (BUF): 1 catch for 12 yards
Mario Alford (CLE): 1 KR for 24 yards
Keith Tandy (TB): 4 tackles
Charles Sims (TB): 1 catch for 4 yards
