Is Brandon Hogan Close To a Return For the Panthers?

Brandon Hogan’s injured knee from 2010 is still giving him problems. It caused the Panthers to put him on the PUP list for the first half of last season. He also suffered a quadriceps injury at some point on the same leg. Panthers’ head coach Ron Rivera says the team has no plans to put Hogan on that list again this season.

The Panthers break camp in Spartanburg, SC today and head back to Charlotte, NC for the rest of the Preseason. Hogan has not practiced in two weeks. During every practice he has been on the sideline with his thigh or knee wrapped either riding a stationary bike or lifting weights.

“The thought is to getting Brandon healthy and back on the practice field. He had a good day today. He was in the weight room doing some real heavy lifting on the leg, so that’s starting to come back,” Rivera said.

The fact that the Panthers have no plans of putting the former Mountaineer star on the PUP list hints that he could be close to returning to practice.  At the beginning of the Preseason, Hogan had a chance to compete with Captain Munnerlyn and Josh Norman for the starting #2 corner job. After not being able to practice, Hogan is listed as the #3 corner.

Hogan recorded four tackles during the last three games for the Panthers last season.
