After nearly two years out of football, Brandon Hogan is ready to resume his football career as the Winnipeg Bluebombers announced on Tuesday that they signed Hogan to a contract for the upcoming season.

Since getting drafted by the Carolina Panthers 98th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, he has played in three games and was out of football for the entire 2013 season. He saw his draft stock fall due to a torn ACL suffered against Rutgers at the end of his senior season against Rutgers and some off-the-field problems.

The Panthers took Hogan at the top of the 4th Round knowing he might not play for an entire season. He he came back to play in the last three games that year, but his knee did not fully heal and he was released during the next preseason from injured reserve.

As a Mountaineer, Hogan started in 35 games, leading the secondary that ranked 11th in the nation in pass defense. In his four-year career, he compiled 171 total tackles and 7 INTs.

He makes the third Mountaineer this spring to join a CFL team, joining Selvish Capers and Pat White who both signed with the Edmonton Eskimos.
