The two-game CFL Preseason ended on Friday night and final rosters were due to the league on Saturday night. WVU had nine players represented north of the border. How many survived the cut? Here is how it breaks down with three CFL rookies making the cut and a few surprising releases.

Edmonton Eskimos

Although Pat White played in limited action in the two preseason games, he showed a strong arm and, of course, his speed when on the run. He made the cut and the team wants to see how he develops backing up Mike Reilly and we may see him in a few new roles. He was in on special teams coverage in the game on Friday night.

Selvish Capers also makes the final roster, and is in the mix at left tackle. He was placed on the injured list until July 3rd.

Robert Sands did not make the cut, but was added to the practice roster.

Toronto Argonauts

Steve Slaton made the cut, as the Argos kept four running backs. He was placed on the injured list until July 4th with a hamstring issue.

Kent Richardson left the team before cuts came out, and re-joined the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena League.

Montreal Alouettes

The team released Scooter Berry as he is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season while playing for the team. They may invite him back once he can clear medical tests according to a report.

Calgary Stampeders

Among those on this list, Jock Sanders could have the biggest contribution to his team in 2014. He is expected to be a big contributor on offense in the passing and running game, but he’ll likely earn his money on special teams as a kick returner.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

In a surprising move, Mortty Ivy did not make the cut after being in the mix to start at linebacker.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Brandon Hogan was released before the first preseason game.
