After not playing in the NBA Summer League, former Mountaineer Casey Mitchell signed with the New Yorker Phantoms in Germany. Mitchell last played for Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia after leaving the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBDL.

The team plans on using him as a swingman playing both the SF and SG postions.

“Casey has proven in the D-League, he’s a very good scorer and motivated players. He brings good conditions and has the ability to increase any.Surely he will need a little time to get used to the BBL. But I’m sure that time is working for us and Casey will be very valuable for our game,” Phantoms head coach Kostas Flevarakis said of Mitchell.

The team has had their eye on Mitchell.

“I’ve seen Casey for quite some time and knew him from college tournaments a few years ago. Thanks to his strong body, combined with his athleticism and he will come to the third position as a young winger to use, “says Oliver Brown, sports director of the New Yorker Phantoms.

Mitchell’s first season with the Phantoms will start near the beginning of October.
