The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today they have waived rookie Forward Kevin Jones to get their roster down to 15 players.

Jones appeared in only 2 games during the NBA Preseason. He had 6 rebounds in 13 minutes during a game against Orlando. He did not score nor attempt a shot during the exhibition games.

A huge reason Jones remained on the roster until the final cuts came down is that head coach Byron Scott loved Jones’ toughness, work ethic and rebounding. He was guaranteed $50,000 when he signed his contract.

Jones could get picked up by another team. If not, the Cavaliers have first right of refusal if he goes to the NBDL. The Cavs D-League team is the Canton Charge where Mike Gansey is the Director of D-League Operations.

We will let you know Jones’ next destination as soon as it is available.
