Geno Smith came into the NFL Draft Combine as one of the top quarterback prospects. Did his performance in the on-field results put him on top? He ranked first among quarterbacks in the 40-yard dash, broad jump. Second in the vertical jump.
In 2009, Pat White ran a 4.55 in the 40 and led the broad jump event among QBs. The next year, Jarrett Brown came in to Indy and led the 40 for quarterbacks with a 4.54. As impressive as those numbers are, Smith himself has a different measuring stick on how good a quarterback is:
4.56 40, 10.4 broad jump, 34 inch vert. Yet none of this defines me as a QB! The game is won between the ears, study the tape!

In his on-field throwing drills, Smith looked very sharp. He was easily the best passer in his particular throwing group, possibly at the entire event.
We will have much more on Smith’s combine performance soon.
Here are his official results:

– Weight: 218 lbs.
– Arm Length: 32 1/2″
– 40-yard Dash: 4.59
– Vertical Jump: 33.5
– Broad Jump: 10’4″
