Erick Orrick, a disabled veteran who grants wishes for fellow veterans through his organization Wishes for Our Heroes, received a taste of his own generosity by Indianapolis Colts Pat McAfee and Coby Fleener earlier this month.
After being away on a trip to nearby Chicago, Orrick returned to his Indianapolis home to the shock of seeing the two Colts’ stars on his front lawn, but with so much more in store for him when he would step through his front door.
The operation set up by McAfee, with an assist by electronic retailer hhgregg, would lead to Orrick’s home being upgraded with a variety of new appliances, furniture and televisions for the single dad of two girls. They also made a donation of $5000 on top of all the upgrades to the Wishes for Our Heroes organization.
McAfee has been a past supporter of the Wishes For Our Heroes organization through the years, including donating his Colts tickets as well as his time and money. You will remember McAfee’s most recent notable act of generosity by donating $35,000 to military families last month through his charitable organization, the Pat McAfee Foundation.
Despite being thankful for McAfee and Fleener generosity, Orrick was still focused on those that he helps on a regular basis. “I hate being in the center of all of this,” he said. “I feel very guilty to have gotten so much when there are guys that need it more than I do.”
