JD Woods works out for Miami

While at West Virginia, JD Woods may have played third fiddle in a pass-happy band but still displayed some top-level skills. Now, in what would be his second NFL season, Woods is testing the markets once again, stopping in Miami today for a workout.

Woods caught 86 passes for 909 yards and five touchdowns in his career at WVU. During his senior season, he reeled in 61 passes for 637 yards and four scores, all while playing behind the likes of Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, who sit on NFL rosters.

While at WVU, Woods displayed soft hands and the ability to go after the ball, making great catches against Baylor in WVU’s Big 12 debut. That led him to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the NFL Draft. The 6-foot-1 receiver went through training camp and three preseason games  with the Steelers before being cut just before the regular season.

With the Steelers, Woods caught just two passes, one of which was featured on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays. He  accumulated 21 yards on both catches, however.

The workout with the Dolphins was first reported by Woods himself on Twitter on Friday as he looks to continue his NFL career.

The Dolphins receivers include Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline at the top and trickle down with guys like Rishard Matthews and Brandon Gibson. Both Hartline and Wallace caught over 70 passes last season for 1,016 and 930 yards, respectively. Third on the list was tight end Charles Clay, who caught 69 passes for 759 yards. Between the three of them, though, they only scored 15 touchdowns.

Woods can work his way into the depth chart as a possible No. 5 receiver after Matthews and Gibson each hauled in at least 30 passes last season.

If I start a blog on Myspace, will it get listed in search engines like Google? If so, is there a way to keep them from being crawled?.. Thank you.
