A few weeks ago, Kevin Jones and Devin Ebanks changed teams. Jones left the Canton Charge to head to the Philippines and sign with the San Miguel Beermen and Ebanks was traded from the Texas Legends to the Springfield Armor. Both player’s career paths are going in different directions. Today, we have good news and bad news.

First, the Good:

Jones is getting settled in with his new team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). On Tuesday, he led the Beer to a 109-92 win over GlobalPort Batang Pier. He had a game-high 30 points on 11 of 17 shooting  and grabbed 19 rebounds.

In their previous game, the Beermen outpaced the Barako Bull Energy Cola 106-100. Jones again led the way with 28 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists.

His team has now won 3 straight games and are one of the hottest in the league with Jones in the fold.

Now, the Bad:

Devin Ebanks has been suspended 5 games for violating the NBDL’s substance abuse policy. He was considered by many to be one of the Top 3 prospects in the D-League for much of the season and many asked why he wasn’t getting looks by NBA teams in need of help at his position.

In his time as a pro, Ebanks showed that he had the ability to play shooting guard (he was Kobe Bryant’s backup for a spell) and his more natural small forward. His outside shooting had improved and was already noted as being a good one-on-one defender.

Perhaps the answer to why Ebanks didn’t get a call-up lay in the 2-game suspension he faced before he could play an NBA game. If a team were to sign him to a 10-day contract, instead of possibly playing five games during that time period, he would have only been able to play in three.

Last October, the NBA suspended Ebanks for pleading “No Contest” to a DUI charge resulting from a November 2012 arrest in California.

With only a few games left in the D-League season, the Armor have already appeared to have moved on, signing F Alejo Rodriguez.

Now the question becomes, where does Ebanks go from here?
