Mountaineer basketball star Mike Gansey has been promoted to Director of D-League Operations by the Cleveland Cavaliers. A few short years ago, Gansey played pro basketball in the Canary Islands. Before that, he played for several teams in the NBDL and was voted as one of the top Erie Bayhawks of all-time.
He earned a job as a scout for the Cavs after he stopped playing ball and served last year as basketball operations assistant. The Cavs were the first team on the phone with Kevin Jones after he went undrafted.
Now, the 29-year-old will work closely with David Griffin, Cavs vice president, and Canton Charge head coach David Jensen. He will deal with Canton’s team operations and personnel decisions while keeping his position as Cavaliers basketball operations assistant.
We get the feeling that you could see more Mountaineers in the future go through the Cavaliers organization.
