Bruce Irvin played his first NFL regular season game on Sunday for the Seahawks against the Cardinals. He did not record any tackles or sacks. He had one QB hit that injured John Skelton.
He played on 55% (35) of the Seahawks’ defensive snaps and on 6 special teams plays.
Head coach Pete Carroll had this to say about Irvin’s first game:
” Bruce played solid. Didn’t get at the quarterback, but was around it. Played a lot of plays in this game and was a big part of the plan. We’ll see him continue to get better.”
Irvin was quiet in the first half against the Cards, but the team was able to make some adjustments at halftime that helped Irvin and fellow DE Chris Clemons to put more pressure on the quarterback.
Next Sunday, Irvin and the Seahawks play at home against the Cowboys. Can Irvin and the Seahawks apply heat to Tony Romo? We will have a full preview of NFL Week 2 later this week.
