Rob Summers named head coach at Urbana University

Rob Summers Coach The coaching tree of WVU basketball players got bigger today with the announcement that Rob Summers has been named as the head coach at Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio.

Summers played for two seasons at WVU and was a member of the Sweet 16 team in 2006 and NIT Champions in 2007 after playing his freshman and sophomore seasons at Penn State. He averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds while starting every game as a senior.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, he went on to play overseas in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America before getting into coaching as an assistant coach at Glenville State in West Virginia in 2011. He was named Director of Basketball Operations at James Madison University in Virginia in June of last year.

The Blue Knights of Urbana and Summers have a rebuilding process ahead of them. A Division II member of the Mountain East Conference, the team held an 0-27 record last season.
