After a tryout with the New York Jets last week — they eventually signed Khalil Bell — Steve Slaton traveled to Denver for a workout with the Broncos on Tuesday.
Broncos’ starting running back, Willis McGahee suffered a torn MCL this past Sunday and will be out 6-8 weeks. The other running backs on the Broncos’ roster are Knowshon Moreno, Lance Ball and rookie Ronnie Hillman.
After his release from Miami during the Preseason, Slaton has worked out for Chicago, Detroit and the New York Jets.

Our sources spoke with Slaton earlier this afternoon. He said he was the only player Denver worked out and the team was very impressed with his performance. After speaking with their running backs coach and John Elway, he was told they would probably sign him depending on what action they take with McGahee regarding his injury. However, McGahee does not want to be put on season-ending IR. There is a chance he would be healthy enough to return for the NFL Playoffs. Keep checking back for updates.
