We continue to remain on the defensive line as our player countdown to West Virginia Chick-fil-A Kickoff game against Alabama reaches No. 94 defensive tackle Chris Parker, who played for the Mountaineers from 1985 through 1988.
Parker collected 135 tackles during his West Virginia career as well as finishing tied with Johnny Dingle for No. 12 all-time with 14.5 sacks as a Mountaineer. He was also part of the first undefeated regular season under Don Nehlen in 1988 before falling to No. 1 Notre Dame, 34-21, in the Fiesta Bowl.
Parker’s best game would come in a 24-17 victory over Rutgers in November 1986, where he would accumulate eight tackles and two sacks for West Virginia.
The Detroit Lions would go on to select Parker with the second pick of the eighth round in the 1989 NFL Draft.
