NFL training camps began this week, and soon the focus will be on Mountaineers in the NFL. However, there are a couple of storylines in the Arena League and CFL that we will continue to keep watch on.
This is the last weekend of the regular season in the AFL. Two former Mountaineers play big roles on their teams as they get ready for the Playoffs.
First, Scooter Berry of the Jacksonville Sharks could set an Arena League record for sacks this weekend if he records two to reach sixteen on the season.
“I’m looking forward to the playoffs and going on this run,” Berry told us. “We have to take care of Pittsburgh this week first so we can get this home playoff game.”
The Sharks are the defending Arena League Champions.
The Sharks take on the Pittsburgh Power Friday night on the NFL Network at 8:00 PM.
Kent Richardson is another Mountaineer who stands out in the Arena League. He broke a Philadelphia Soul record for interceptions in a season with 14 last week. He is also up for the AFL Defensive Player of the Year (Click here to vote for him). He was recently voted as the 18th best player in the AFL.
The Soul have one of the best records in the AFL and play the Utah Blaze at home on Sunday evening at 6:05 PM.
Can either Richardson or Berry help lead their teams to the promised land?
