We return from vacation to bring you several generous servings of WVUPros news and notes to whet your appetite for the first weekend of the summer. Bottoms up!

Wes Lyons

The former Mountaineer receiver, recently released from the Steelers roster, announced over the weekend he is coming out with his own book according to WVMetronews. The title of the book is “Pursue With Patience” and will be out soon according to Lyons.

“(The book) just helps everybody understand what I’ve been through and tries to give people the inside scoop on West Virginia and how [loyal] the fans are,” Lyons said.

He also has a website called Beyond Phenom that specializes in personal sports videos and highlights. They also have a clothing line.

Noel Devine

Devine wrapped up his two-game preseason with the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday afternoon. He returned a few kicks and ran the ball a few times, but nothing spectacular like his preseason début with the team. He is in competition with three other players for the starting kick returner job and could see action as a backup RB and slot receiver.

Jock Sanders

Sanders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders finish up their CFL preseason tonight against Calgary. Sanders’ status for the game is unknown. He has missed practice all week with a hip injury.

Kent Richardson

Richardson and the Philadelphia Soul clinched a playoff berth last weekend with a big win against Scooter Berry’s Jacksonville Sharks. Richardson was the defensive star of the game for Philadelphia. He had three interceptions including one for a touchdown. He also had three tackles in the game.

Scooter Berry

In the same game as Richardson’s above, Berry had 3 tackles and .5 sacks. He now has 9.5 sacks on the season.

Kevin Jones

After working out with the Mavericks on Tuesday, we count nine different teams Jones has worked out for or interviewed with during the NBA pre-Draft process. He has visited Boston, Golden State, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Miami, Sacramento, Orlando (interview only), Dallas, and the L.A. Lakers.

Memphis Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace says that Jones’ position is a “crap-shoot” at this point with the Draft coming up next Thursday.
