Renaldo Turnbull became one of the top defensive names in West Virginia history in the late 1980’s. During his career, Turnbull posted 124 tackles, 18.5 sacks and forced two fumbles. His best statistical season came during his senior campaign where he registered 67 tackles, including 11.0 for a loss and 8.0 sacks. That came just one season after he tallied 49 tackles with 12.0 for a loss and 9.0 sacks. He also played on the 1988 team which made a National Championship appearance.
His illustrious career at WVU turned into a first-round selection in the 1990 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints taking him 14th overall. He would go on to record 9.0 sacks during his rookie season. He would also record a career-high 13.0 sacks during the 1993 season, making the Pro Bowl in the process.
