WVU’s Countdown to Kickoff: Day 88 – Reggie Rembert

Reggie Rembert came to West Virginia after spending some time at a junior college but helped West Virginia reach success alongside Major Harris. Rembert hauled in 70 catches for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns in his two seasons with WVU. He also ran for 145 yards on 15 carries, three of which were touchdowns.

Rembert started all 12 games during his senior season, racking up 47 catches for 850 yards and 11 touchdowns. He tallied 130 total points for his two seasons with WVU, being noted as one of the top receivers in school history.

He went on to be taken in the second round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets. After never playing a snap for the Jets during his rookie season, he was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. where he recorded nine grabs for 117 yards and a score in 1991. He would finish with 36 catches for 437 yards and one touchdown for his NFL career, spending three seasons with the Bengals.

His son, also named Reggie, walked on at WVU and played receiver.
