Tyler Urban was one of the few successful tight ends in the Mountaineers offense, catching 37 passes for 439 yards and five touchdowns. He played in double-digit games for WVU in each of his four seasons on campus.
Urban’s best season came in 2011 when he caught 20 passes for 226 yards and two scores. In WVU’s mix of power and finesse in the running game, Urban was a powerful part in blocking, leading the way for quarterback Pat White and running backs like Steve Slaton and Noel Devine.
Urban went on to the NFL, bouncing around and trying out for a few teams but has since made his way back to Morgantown to join the staff as an assistant coach under Dana Holgorsen.
