Talley was one of the best tacklers in Mountaineer history and translated his talents over to a prolific NFL career. At WVU, Talley recorded 484 tackles, starting all four years. During his time he led WVU to the 1981 Peach Bowl and the 1982 Gator Bowl.
Talley was a vital part of the turnaround for WVU in the early 1980’s and was named a Consensus All-American in 1982 – just the school’s third All-American at the time.
From there, Talley was drafted in the second round by Buffalo and went on to become the team’s all-time leading tackler after 11 seasons.
