We are 99 days away from the Mountaineers taking on Alabama in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff on Saturday August, 30th. Get ready to meet some of the biggest and baddest players in WVU history in the coming days as jersey numbers in the 90’s are typically reserved for defensive linemen. Representing the No. 99 is big, run-stuffing NT Barry Hawkins who played for WVU from 1991-1994.
Hawkins was a member of the undefeated 1993 Mountaineers squad and was an All-Big East Second team selection that season. He earned an All-Big East first team nod during his senior season. He anchored the defensive line, compiling 208 tackles and 16 sacks in his career.
He went on to sign with the San Francisco 49ers as a free-agent and currently serves as a defensive line coach for the Coatesville Red Raiders in Pennsylvania.
